Bronze Medal for Australian Laetisha Scanlan at ISSF World Cup in Baku

Laetisha Scanlan has won the bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan overnight in the Womens Trap (Shotgun) individual event.

Coming off the back of her silver medal winning performance at the ISSF Grand Prix in Granada, Spain, only a week prior, Scanlan was top qualifier in Baku with a score of 119/125 and tied with Spaniard Fatima Galvez and after a shoot-off, was ranked second where she progressed to Ranking Match 2 (Semi Final 2). After shooting an additional 22 out of 25 targets, Scanlan progressed to the medal match.

Scanlan went on to score 22/25 hits in the medal match, winning the bronze medal.

Speaking about the result, Scanlan said “it’s been awhile since I’ve medalled at a world cup so I’m really really happy and there were some quality shooters out there so to come away with the bronze is something that I’m super proud of”

When talking about the European tour the Australian Shotgun Team has been on, Scanlan said “Our European tour is coming to an end, it’s almost been 7 weeks away, I’ve learnt some really valuable lessons throughout this journey and I’m really lucky and fortunate to have so many competitions within that 7 weeks and I’m really happy to finish off in a world cup medalling.”

The ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan marks the end of a 7-week international campaign for the Australian Shotgun Team, with Trap Mixed Teams and Trap Team events still to come this week.
