Silver for Catherine Skinner at first event of the 2018 sport shooting season

World number one and Current Olympic champion Catherine Skinner has taken Silver in Women’s Trap at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara Mexico.

The first competition of the season kicked off on March 1st in Guadalajara, opening the 2018 shooting sport season and delivering the first 15 gold medals of the season in the three disciplines – pistol, rifle, and shotgun.

Skinner was extremely pleased with her Silver Medal “I’m happy with the result. I started rough but I was able to recover. The bigger event has changed the dynamic, giving you a chance to recover after a bad round.”

404 athletes from 50 nations are competing in the 2018 ISSF World Cup. Events are being contested in two separate venues: the airgun events at the CODE Paradero; while the 25m, 50m and shotgun events at the Club Cinegetico Jalisciense.

With only 13 days to go until the ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney and 25 days until the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games this marks the start of a great year for Australian sports shooting.
