Silver Medal for Australian 10m Air Rifle Men’s Team

 The Australian Men’s Air Rifle Team has won the silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The team of Dane Sampson, Jack Rossiter, and Michael Davis shot a combined score of 933.4 in stage 1 of qualifying, followed by 626.6 in stage 2 where they advanced to the gold medal match against South Korea. 

South Korea put on a strong performance in the final and claimed the gold medal with our Aussie team claiming the silver. A fantastic achievement from the men’s team and great to see Australian rifle athletes back on the podium.

Speaking about qualification, Rossiter said “we had good qualification scores to get into the gold medal match.”, with Davis adding “I think it’s been a good learning experience, good experience in general for the future, especially experience for future competitions”.

Dane Sampson added “we have men’s individual 3 Positions tomorrow (1st of June), we’re all looking forward to that. I think we’re all shooting quite well so it’ll be another good experience to see what we can do.”

For the Rifle athletes, there is still the 50m Rifle 3 Positions individual for Men and Women to come on Wednesday (1st June) and Thursday (2nd June) respectively, with Australia being represented by Dane, Jack, and Michael for Men’s, and Tori Rossiter for Women’s. This will be followed by 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Men on Friday 3rd of June, before the rifle competition concludes on Saturday the 4th of June with the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Mixed Team where Dane Sampson and Tori Rossiter will team up to represent Australia.
