The Australian Shotgun Team are currently at the ISSF World Championships in Osijek, Croatia having added a bronze medal to their existing tally of one gold and one bronze.

In the Trap Team Women, the Australian team of Kiara Dean, Breanna Collins, and Molly Bretag scored 191/225 in qualification entering a shoot off where they placed 4th, qualifying for the bronze medal match.

In the bronze medal match the Australian’s put on a dominant performance against Team USA scoring 6 points to 2 to bring home the bronze medal for Australia.

Speaking on the medal win, Bretag said “The final felt unreal, I think once I got the first one out of the way, everything was smooth sailing so I just had to keep breathing, keep calm and everything was good. I’m speechless really.”

Dean added “It was a really good finish, I’m very proud of how we went, it was a really solid final. I’m proud of the girls this morning, we had a really rough start but we really nailed in and our next two rounds were really solid so I’m really proud of the girls we did really well.”

Speaking on how they qualified for the final, Collins said “As Kiara said we started off a little bit rough and then we came together really strong and in the shoot off we just remained cool, calm, and collected and we just had positive thoughts and went out with no pressure and it really came together. I’m just proud of all of us.”

The Trap Team Women bronze medal was the final medal for the Junior Australian Shotgun Team in their 3-medal haul, with Kiara Dean having earlier become the Junior World Champion in the Women’s Trap event with Breanna Collins having picked up the bronze medal.

The attention now turns to the more senior Australian Shotgun athletes with Trap Men, Trap Women, Trap Mixed Teams, Trap Team Men, Trap Team Women, and Skeet Women events still to come at the ISSF World Championships.
