The Selection Criteria for the 2023 ISSF Junior World Championships has been updated and can be accessed via the link below.
The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) has confirmed an update to the classification of a Junior effective 13 April 2023.
Athletes will remain as Juniors until the 31st December of the year in which they turn 21 years of age. (ISSF Rule 3.7.4.12)
Athletes will also still be eligible to compete in the under 18 age category (eg 2023 Junior World Championships) until the 31st December of the year in which they turn 18 years of age.
This change by the ISSF has resulted in a change to Shooting Australia’s Junior World Championship selection criteria and specific to clause 6 a (i).
6. ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY
a) To be eligible for consideration for selection to the Team for the JWCH an athlete must:
(i) Be under the age of, or turn, twenty-one (21) or eighteen (18) years between 1st January and 31st December of the year of competition. Refer clause 5(a) with regard to the number of athletes per age.
