ONE YEAR TO GO – PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES #AllezAUS

Excitement is building as today marks one year to go until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with 19 days of competition set to commence on the 26th of July, 2024 across 41 sites.

Representing a new era for the Olympic Games, it will be the first time in history that quota places will be distributed equally across men (50%) and women (50%) with 10,500 athletes competing across 32 sports and 329 events.

Of the Games, now only 12 months away, Shooting Australia’s High-Performance Manager, Kathryn Periac, says “I am excited that the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is getting closer and is now only a year away. As an Olympic sport, we are planning carefully and working with our partners at the Victorian Institute of Sport, South Australia Sports Institute and the Australian Institute of Sport to prepare and support our athletes. The next significant step on the Journey to Paris will be the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan in August this year where we are hoping to secure additional Olympic quotas across pistol, rifle and shotgun events.

At the conclusion of the World Championships, Shooting’s Olympic nomination criteria will be released. We will then work closely with our athletes to provide a competitive nomination process in support of their selection and preparation leading into the Games, and the critical support on the ground during Olympic competition for athletes to deliver personal best and medal winning performances.”

The Paris 2024 Shooting events will be held at the National Shooting Centre in Chateauroux, about 300 kilometres outside of Paris, between the 27th July and 5th August, 2024.
