Deserie Baynes returns to Shooting Australia Board

Deserie Baynes returns to the Shooting Australia board after resigning in October 2023 to pursue a 12 month coaching role as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic team preparation.

Elected during Shooting Australia’s Annual General Meeting that was held on Friday 22 November, Baynes takes up the Directorship for a third and final term.

Of her return to the Board, the Atlanta Olympic Bronze Medallist Baynes said, “With my continual development of knowledge in the sport stemming from grass roots to high performance, and my recent experience of working with some of Australia’s most successful shooting athletes, I feel that my skill set will positively enhance and compliment the other members of the Board.”

With the Paris Olympic and Paralympic cycle now coming to an end, Baynes said, “I am looking forward to working with the Board and Management of Shooting Australia to further develop and implement the organisations strategy as we close off the Paris Olympic and Paralympic cycle and look ahead to Los Angeles in 2028.”

Welcoming the return of Baynes to the Board, Shooting Australia President Andrew Sims said, “The Shooting Australia Board is fortunate to see the return of Deserie to the Board after her hiatus supporting the Paris Olympic Shotgun Team. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport and we are grateful for her contribution, dedication and professionalism in the roles she takes up.”

Baynes’ election brings the total number of Directors on the Shooting Australia Board to five, as she joins Andrew Sims, James Kitching, Robert Maddocks and Lorraine Hughes.
