ISSF Ningbo World Cup Recap

The ISSF Pistol / Rifle World Cup was held in Ningbo, China, between the 7th and 15th of September, marking the final pistol/ rifle world cup for the 2025 season.

The 2025 Ningbo World Cup brought together more than 330 athletes from over 40 different countries. Australia was represented at this world cup by a team of 5 athletes, including, Charlottle Bland, Olivia Cartwright and Jack Rossiter in rifle and Alison Heinrich and Ellie Rudder in pistol.

In the Men’s 10m Air Rifle Event, Jack Rossiter qualified 3rd overall, shooting a strong score of 633.4 to progress to the event final, eventually finishing 8th overall with a finals score of 122.9.

Rossiter’s finals appearance in Ningbo adds to what has already been one of the strongest seasons for the world ranked number 6, with three World Cup finals appearances, and a bronze medal at the ISSF Grand Prix in Ruse. Reflecting on his 10m Air performance, Rossiter said, “I’m very happy with my performance in the qualification. I tried to carry the momentum through to the final. I felt great in my preparation prior to the final but unfortunately, I couldn’t follow through.”

Reflecting on 2025 to date, Rossiter said, “I’m happy that I’ve managed to get myself into multiple finals so far this year. Making the final more regularly is a big step in my progression that I’m proud of. I feel like my skills have been improving and I’m hoping I can carry this feeling into the qualification stage in Cairo [World Championships] later this year.”

Australia was also represented in Ningbo by two officials. In her first overseas appointment, Helen Johnson filled the position of Pistol Jury, and experienced international official Alex Maranik took the role of Chairperson – Equipment Control. Officials play integral roles in ensuring fair competition and adherence to ISSF rules throughout competition. To read the full story and see the Australian team’s full results visit the link below:

Shooting Australia Welcomes Alex Hammett to the Board

Shooting Australia has recently updated its Constitution to align with the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) Sport Governance Standards. A key amendment includes the revision of Board composition to comprise four elected and up to four appointed directors.

In line with these updates, the Shooting Australia Nomination Committee, now chaired by Russell D’Costa, is responsible for identifying and recommending suitably qualified candidates for Board appointments, guided by the Board Skills Matrix, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) considerations.

Following a rigorous review and assessment process, including interviews and reference checks, the Nomination Committee has recommended Alex for appointment to the Shooting Australia Board. Alex brings a wealth of Board and corporate experience, positioning her strongly to contribute to the continued governance and strategic direction of Shooting Australia in the years ahead.

Gleniss Lawrence Appointed Jury Chairperson for 2025 ISSF Shotgun World Championships

Shooting Australia congratulations Gleniss Lawrence on her appointment to the role of Jury Chairperson at the 2025 ISSF Shotgun World Championships that is scheduled to commence on the 8th of October in Athens, Greece.

As a member of the ISSF Shotgun Committee speaking about her appointment in Athens, Gleniss says, “I have been honoured once again by the ISSF to be Jury Chairperson at the ISSF World Championships Shotgun.”

Detailing what her role at the World Championships will entail, Gleniss says, “As Jury Chairperson, I will work closely with the appointed Technical Delegate. I will be responsible for advising, assisting and supervising the competition Officials and the conduct of the event. I must examine the shooting ranges and check the organisational arrangements and organisation of operating personnel, to ensure that they conform to ISSF Rules. Most importantly I ensure that no Athlete has an unfair advantage over another.”

For those considering a pathway in officiating, and with Australia hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Gleniss encourages people to get involved. “Many Officials will be required for the Brisbane Olympics, particularly Referees. I encourage anyone who would like to consider being an ISSF Official. It is a great way to give back to the sport you love, whilst meeting an amazing amount of different people within Australia and Internationally.”
