How to Get Classified

Physical Impairment (Sport Classes SH1, SH2, SG-S, SG-L, SG-U)

Physical Impairment classifications are conducted by Shooting Australia.  There are 3 Stages in the Australian National Physical Impairment Classification System.  A person wishing to obtain a Physical Impairment Classification must complete the stages listed below.

New athletes or athletes competing in domestic events are only required to hold a provisional classification.  Once an athlete completes the provisional classification pack, it is returned to classification@shootingaustralia.org.  Shooting Australia will then issue a provisional classification  to the athlete.

Stage 1 – Provisional Classification
as per the Para Shooting Flow Chart

Stage 2 – National Classification
Shooting Australia will be conducting two National Classification days per year.  Any Athlete that is progressing through the Pathway to be included in the SA High Performance Program, or an Athlete that has ben classified with a review date on their Provisional Classification will be required to attend one of these days to become Nationally Classified.

Athletes can still compete under their Provisional Classification.

Stage 3 – International Classification
Athletes that have made the Shooting Australia High Performance program and have been selected to attend an International Event will be internationally classified prior to the start of the event by the WSPS International Classification panel.
