Shooting Australia welcomes the recent Australian Sports Commission announcement of an historic investment in sport of $385 million over the next 18 months. This record investment in sport will see investment in 70 sports with 95% of Olympic and Paralympic summer sports receiving increased funding.
The committed funding to 30 June 2026 will kick start sports’ preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will also give focus to pathways and support in sport from participation (Play Well Strategy) to high performance (Win Well Strategy), and will be inclusive of athletes, officials and coaches.
Acknowledging the significance of the funding announcement, Shooting Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Sachs, says, “Sport, and specifically Shooting Australia, is extremely grateful for the commitment of funding from the Federal Government, the Australian Government and Taxpayers. Shooting is very fortunate to receive an uplift in funding during the first half of the LA Olympic/Paralympic cycle.
The funding will provide Shooting Australia with a critical foundation to implement our LA2028+ Strategy, while supporting our athletes realise their dreams. “
With a strong focus on the Win Well and Play Well strategies being rolled out by the Australian Sports Commission, Sachs says, “Shooting Australia is strongly aligning its funding priorities to the Win Well and Play Well strategies which are key components of our LA2028+ Strategy.
“We will continue to provide meaningful support to our top athletes by increasing funding and access to enhanced daily training environments, as well as opportunities to targeted competitions with the objective to qualify for, and medal in, benchmark and pinnacle events.
“Shooting Australia will also be focussing on supporting and enhancing the capacity and capability of able and para shooting in Australia through education and opportunities for not only athletes but for officials and coaches at all levels.”
Shooting Australia will commence the rollout of its LA2028+ Strategy in the coming months, as it paves the strong foundation to support Shooting in Australia for years to come.
