Kerry Bell wins pistol shooting medal at Commonwealth Games

The Campbelltown Liverpool District Pistol Club member came second in the 10m Air Pistol competition at the Gold Coast games today.

Bell only took up pistol shooting in 2012, at age 41.

His Commonwealth Games event was held this morning.

The local was pipped to the post by Indian competitor Jitu Rai, while fellow Indian om Mitharval took third place.

Geoff Young, secretary of the Campbelltown Liverpool District Pistol Club, said the organisation was proud of Bell’s “tremendous effort”.

“This is Kerry’s first time at the Commonwealth Games and he has received silver,” Young said.

“His fellow members of the pistol club are very proud of his achievement and excited that Kerry has attained this result.

“This is a result he could not have achieved without the support of his employers at South West Automotive.”

Bell received his medal in a ceremony just after noon today.
