2019 is going to be a busy and exciting year for the sport of Shotgun shooting. There is a lot on offer with multiple opportunities to represent Australia. We wish all our athletes the best 2019 and can’t wait to see the outcomes.
VCTA State Titles – Echuca – 3-5 May
This event is part of the selection process(es) for the following international events:
- ISSF Shotgun World Championships in Italy in July;
- 2019 ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Finland in August; and
- 2019 Oceania Championships in Sydney in November.
2019 ISSF Shotgun World Shotgun Championships – Italy – 30 June-11 July
AUS’ Team for this event will be selected and announced as soon as possible following the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Korea in May.
On selection, members of the Senior Trap team and any Junior Trap team athletes with a senior BMS will be offered the opportunity to attend the Beretta Cup in Italy from 21-23 June in advance of/preparation for the World Championships. The Beretta Cup is optional for eligible athletes.
Tokyo Pan Pacific Championships – Japan – 4-8 July
Senior athletes who are eligible but not selected to the 2019 ISSF Shotgun World Championships will be invited to travel as members of an AUS Team to this event.
This event will provide athletes with valuable exposure to international competition and an opportunity for Shooting Australia to gather information about the Tokyo climate and environment ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games.
Eligible athletes will be invited to attend this event at the same time as AUS Team selections to the 2019 ISSF Shotgun World Championships are announced.
Athletes who are invited and accept, will be required to provide feedback around heat/humidity (and other environmental factors) and explore measures to manage these.
Thailand Open (Skeet Only) – Thailand – 10-15 September
Shooting Australia is looking to facilitate an international competition opportunity for Senior Skeet athletes who:
- May be selected to the AUS Team for the 2019 Oceania Championships; but
- Are not eligible for selection to AUS Teams for the 2019 ISSF Shotgun World Cups and/or World Championships.
Athletes will be identified to attend this event following the VCTA State Titles in Echuca in May.
2019 Oceania Championships – Sydney – 1-9 November
Shooting Australia can now confirm the following selection events for the 2019 Oceania Championships:
- VCTA State Titles – Echuca – 3-5 May;
- BNE Cup – Brisbane – 6-8 September; and
- SYD Cup/NSW State Titles – SISC – 21-22 September.
AUS’ Team for the 2019 Oceania Championships will be selected and announced as soon as possible following the final selection event in September.
